Bouvier des Flandres
Castenuel
Bouviers
have a compact, muscular body and a powerfull appearance. It is a courageous, intelligent and energetic breed.
Originally Bouviers were work dogs, selected for appropriate character, temperament. and their fonctional structure in relation to farm work. They were particularly good as cart-dogs and were extensively used to guard livestock.
Bouviers were also selected for their excellent reflexes in avoiding the hooves of horses and cattle. Their strenght and stamina combined with their thick fur enabled them to endure long hours in the most adverse weather.
